Songs That Sound Like Other Songs

Songs that are a blatant ripoff of older songs have always pissed me off. I realise that all popular music is derivative, but there are some really blatant examples. I've only really started making a note of them lately. I'll post a few Youtube clips in this thread to demonstrate - I've tried to start the videos at the point at which they both sounds the same. Hopefully it works.

Firstly a classic song, Lady in Red by Chris Deburgh.

Now a suspiciously similar sounding chorus from "bootylicious" Beyonce.

edit: The timestamp thing didn't work. You want to go to 2:30 in both songs (coincidence that the choruses start at the same time? I think not.)

    re-edit: evilgoat fixed it, hooray!

This song isn't even trying to hide it. It's so fucking bad too.

I hate that song so bad, and the radio spams it all the time, I'd like to stab Kid Rock in the neck with a fork.

Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

Man, I was pretty close to busting out "Violent rapes will ensue" when I was posting the vid.

Yeah. I hate that song so much. Although when it comes to ripping off songs, it's not AS bad because it's so obvious. Kid Rock will probably call it a tribute or homage or something.

Here's another one that fits in that category - Love Supreme by Robbie Williams. It IS I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor. He even says "you must survive" or something to that effect.

I posted the Cake version for comparison because it's so much cooler.

How could stuff like that possibly offend you? Don't you listen to hip-hop?

Samples and rap tributes are different.

Yeah, that's why I clarified it with this.

Here's an example of one of the really insidious ones. "Kaz James" - whoever the fuck that is, ripping off the Presidents of the USA.

    What a fucking hack.

So should I include a clip of every hip-hop song ever recorded with a similar clarification?
