    Dream On by Aerosmith

Sing For The Moment by Eminem

I'm pretty sure this is legit. Aerosmith must have agreed to it, cause I'm pretty sure the chorus of Sing For The Moment is taken directly from Dream On
Some call it a bicycle lane, I call it a kill zone

It is. Eminem samples the song in the Sing For The Moment, just like he does with Dido's Thank You in Stan. I don't think there's anything wrong with sampling a song in most cases.

Yeah, I agree. What I have a problem is, is when a song relies on a direct copy of another song, or indeed a sample, as its hook. It basically says "I can't write a catchy song, so I'll use someone elses catchy song".

    Kanye West - Stronger
YouTube - Kanye West - Stronger

Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
YouTube - Daft Hands - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Wow. Just wow. Destroyed a good song. Thank you so much Kanye.

I don't necessarily agree with this. Funny enough I read this post this morning before going to work and first song I heard in my car was exactly what you're describing and I quite like it.

    Lady Sovereign - So Human

The Cure - Close To Me

Oh man, I heard this song but never knew who it was by. This is exactly what I was talking about. I know it's not a 'rip off' as such, because they clearly have permission to use it, but it's still really lame. I mean, just do a bloody cover, don't add your own gay shit to a song and ruin it. It's still the same song, just worse.

I guess I play it by ear. For example, I hate that Kidrock song so much but I really like that Lady Sovereign song.

It probably has something to do with the fact Kidrock is shit and he is paying tribute to a shit song by a shit band, whereas Lady Sovereign is good and is paying tribute to a good song by a good band. Like, the combined shitness of Kidrock's song is extremely high, while Lady Sovereign is drawing on a shade of awesome.
