Agreed. Punk was a guttural war scream for thousands of disenchanted, disaffected youth in the slums of England, and has been co-opted into this meek crud aimed solely at 13-15 year olds who manifest their rebellion against their parents by sneaking out of their house at night, not to actually do anything but just sneaking out because they, like, totally hate their parents. The advantage rap has is that it's at least still offensive I guess.
Yes, at least the one that your biases lie towards still has it's offensive nature. Those of us more into punk have nothing to hang our hat on with what's been passed as punk these days. Either way, both of these once proud and passionate movements have been raped in the eye socket.
yeah i totally get your point. i'm not too into hip hop but they both have the same sort of background (coming up from the slums and repressing anger and social views) and now it's all gone to shit. I blame those darn scene kids and mtv, bringing the underground to the surface and leaving it vaulnerable to mindless trend-zombies, haha thanks for the supposrt guys
