At this time are there enough people being born? People are still dying and the good thing is in this day and age, they lead long and productive lives, at least in Western Civilization before they do. Overpopulation wonīt be a problem. But do we reproduce enough. What do you all think about the current birth rate. Is it enough?

Raze, why do you think overpopulation won't be a problem? Some theories suggest that global warming is reducing the amount of arable land, and therefore will place stress on the planet's ability to feed itself. Also all world population charts show exponential growth since the industrial revolution, and approaching 25% growth every ten years. That's a lot of people to feed, clothe and shelter.
The solution to population growth is education in developing countries and promoting of women's rights in developing nations. Also in the west, where it was thought that education and sensibility would maintain negative growth, a new phenomenon is occurring. Large families are being viewed as a status symbol of wealth. Couples are having four or five children as a social status symbol of both wealth and their ability to cope.
I suspect your view like your moniker is that natural disasters will control populations. This is the 'armaggeddon view', prepare to die view. The world is too powerful for us mere mortals to understand and control view. I call it the 'head in the sand' view. No different from the view of the Volvo 7 seater XC90 driving mum's with their same as their mates below the knee leather boots and their designer sunglasses, and their accessorised four kids. Well not the same view, poles apart actually but the same angle of deviation from reality.
On another note I really don't like bullying in forums. Its a Gillard tactic to snipe, and it truly makes me angry. Genuine anger is okay and everyone can expect to cop a bucket at any time from anyone. But nancy boy, gillarding is unacceptable.
I remember Pau, and he was bullied off this site, I used to enjoy his comments, especially the stories. All good stuff. Hope he comes back one day.
