Well, instead of making a new thread, I'll just post this here.

I've got a really good friend who's a girl who I've liked for quite awhile. Last time I told her, she took it alright, but there wasn't anything she was feeling for me.

I sort of put her out of my thoughts for a bit, but we still talked and all of that. Well, she's back in there, and now I can't decide what to do. Ideally, the end result would be us going out. Worst case, she stops talking to me. I could go about this a lot of ways. I could go right up front and not beat around the bush at all and just ask her, or I could compliment her and subtly imply that I'm interested over the next couple days. Or something else entirely. I don't even know if I should do this, as I value our friendship a lot. By 'a lot', I mean 'If she stopped talking to me, I'd fall into depression and kill myself' a lot. I consider her one of my... three or four real friends. If she takes it badly or anything like that and is uncomfortable talking to me anymore... It'd be bad.

KEEP her out of your thoughts as a girlfriend, and KEEP her as a friend. If you stress your interest to her again, she WILL back off because she has already LET YOU KNOW there's not any feelings like that on her side of the coin. Besides, a relationship is only good if BOTH parties are feeling the same way. If you DID get with her, you'd be spending the whole relationship trying to MAKE her stay with you. Not a good thing, and too much stress. Get the though out of your head so you can take advantage of opportunities you are most likely missing by thinking of her.
